Senses – Our Story
In 2022, the owners of Senses, Gi and Deb were looking for a space, simply to host their breathwork teacher trainings & gather with likeminded people.
They discovered Midigama fruit farm and its rich history and instantly knew that this was their place.
Further back inland, and away from the hustle and bustle of Midigama, the peaceful Senses shalas are surrounded by lush trees, plants and wildlife. Complete with a Buddhist meditation garden that goes way back to the 1940’s-50’s, when the old owner would host meditation classes and vipassana retreats.
Not long after taking on the space, Gi & Deb were inundated with messages from all sorts of holistic teachers looking to contribute. From these first moments, the community has blossomed in the most beautifully organic way.
Gi and Deb radiate this genuine authenticity, not only in themselves as people but also in their real desire to create a haven where everyone is welcome. During the daytime, the space is always open for you to retreat, chant, meditate, work or just be, in solitude or in community.
From the open air shala, where you can practice surrounded by nature or dance underneath the stars on the direct earth, to the brand new indoor shala that creates a safe, vibrating container for sound baths and gatherings, this place welcomes you with open arms.
Every year, Senses continues to evolve, now with affordable accommodation and the cafe run by the local family, where 80% of their nourishing food comes directly from the farm. All that you need to retreat, heal, rest and release is right here waiting for you.
