DIRECTIONS & OPENING HOURS

ARE YOU OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND?

Yes, you can stay at Senses all year round, please note that during ‘green season’ from May until October, activities might be limited.

WHAT ARE THE OPENING HOURS?

Reception is open daily from 7:30AM until 5:30PM. Please contact us at +94 076 439 2378 outside these hours.

HOW DO I REACH SENSES FROM THE AIRPORT?

Best is to book a private driver. We are happy to book a private transfer for you with our trusted driver for the price of 23.000LKR (one way)

Traveling with train or bus could be an adventure, but if you are up for it, want to save money and have at least 3 to 6 hrs available:

Via Bus:

From the airport you have to walk about 1.5km to the nearest bus station, from there take the first bus available to “Makumbura bus station” (about 25 min trip)

From Makumbura bust station take the first available “HIGHWAY BUS to Galle” (1.5hr highway bus trip)

From Galle bus station you can take any local bus headed to MATARA and get off at Midigama (about 30 min). From Midigama, a tuk tuk ride is recommended and is just 3 minutes to Senses.

Via train:

From the airport walk to the bus station, take the first bus available to COLOMBO FORT (about 40 minutes) From Colombo fort take the train to MIDIGAMA (about 2.5hrs) From Midigama, a tuk tuk ride is recommended and is just 3 minutes to Senses.

DO I HAVE TO PREBOOK TO JOIN A YOGA CLASS?

No, yoga classes are drop-ins. There is no need to prebook. Only special events and workshops (everything marked with an * on the schedule requires pre booking, you can register via email, whatsapp or DM on instagram by sending your full name, whatsapp nr , email address and the event that you would like to attend.

ARE YOGA MATS PROVIDED?

Yes, we provide high quality mats made of 100% natural rubber from Sri Lanka.

DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE BEFORE JOINING A TRAINING?

It depends, best is to look for the description of every training. For our 200hr yoga teacher training program a consistent practice of at least 1 year is recommended. For sound healing training, ecstatic dance facilitator training and other training, usually no prior experience is required.

STAY AT SENSES

DO I NEED TO BOOK MY STAY IN ADVANCE?

It is recommended that you do, we can’t guarantee availability of beds in the dorms or room since we work with an online automated system.

CAN I ROAM FREELY IN THE MIDIGAMA FRUIT FARM?

Yes, feel free to explore the farm but stay on the walking path and do not cross lines where veggies are growing or enter greenhouses without permission. You can book a tour with the Midigama Fruit Farm to learn about everything that they do and learn about the beauty of biodiversity and regenerative farming.

CAN I JUST COME AND HAVE A LOOK?

Of course, feel free to come anytime, walk around the farm, stay for a farm-to-table meal at the MFF conscious food studio, sit, meditate or play music in our spiritual hangout garden.
Access to the yoga shala area is not allowed during class times.

TEACH AT SENSES

HOW DO I APPLY TO TEACH AT SENSES?

We are always on the lookout for talented and skilled teachers but please note the following before applying:

Senses is a fully licensed and registered yoga school in Sri Lanka who adhere to the Sri Lankan government rules.
We do not accept applications from teachers who are here on a tourist visa.
To teach at Senses you must have a valid business visa or resident visa.

For teaching regular yoga classes, we ask for a commitment of minimum 6 months, this to ensure consistency, professionalism and to justify the cost of the visa. Applications are always open and the selection happens in August for the November/April period and in February for the May/October period.

For a one time or a series of workshops, there is no time commitment however please note that our schedule is done 2 months ahead of time. (i.e. in the beginning of January we schedule for March, in February we schedule for April and so on)
